Zeds Dead's 'Adrenaline' EP | Track By Track Review
With lit cigarettes in hand and suave looks to boot, the Zeds Dead brothers are grander than ever, in 2012. Looks like hard work and dedication towards your first major release pays off. Or so it seems in the case of the release, ‘Adrenaline’ EP. Determination is the quality that clearly sings through each track, as creativity, excellent song composition, and production quality reign. If you’re not sure on what to buy, below, you can read up on the tracks and listen at your leisure; enjoy the bass!
1. In The Beginning
Zeds Dead kicks off the mood with a wobbly track that starts off like an anthem. Trickling synths create an atmosphere reminiscent of epic lead-ins to war and other equally dramatic events on the big screen, which isn’t too far from what this heads towards. Queue the stomping wobbles. Gigantic bass notes pad-foot there way into the track, letting everybody who didn’t already know, ZD makes tracks that womp. One build up leads to another and the wobbles pick up pace with some sharp kicks and electro synths. Those synths progress into their pungent, winding signature sound, which fade off as the song comes to a close. This is a must have for fans of steady bass.

2. Adrenaline
This track begins as an eerie screaming synth, bouncing along to a slow starting kick drum. That clears out for a strong snare & horn brigade build up. Then comes the drop… plunging you quickly into the best kind of madness. This drop sounds like an incorporation of everything insanely addictive from their two biggest tracks: “Eyes On Fire (Zeds Dead Remix)” by Blue Foundation & “Paradise Circus (Zeds Dead Remix)” by Massive Attack. Those tracks helped get them to where they are today, and this track alone will give them a similarly sized leg-up. I’m not going to spoil the rest, but please, give it a listen, I implore you.

3. Hit Me
As a light presence of female vocals spices up the introduction of this track a short back-and-forth rhythm moves into the foreground. Halting only to unleash a modified natural drum beat that bursts with that newly found tribal side of ZD. If that style in “Undah Yuh Skirt” fit your fancy, this song will do you wonders. The interlude sizzles at a high tempo pace as drums return to finish off a fittingly strong, and highly danceable beat. Fans of some drum & bass tempo and unrestricted vibes, get at it.

4. Oh No
And then… the EP ends with a bang. This track, perhaps the most familiar of the four, competes with the title track as one of the best on the release. By familiar, I mean obtrusively massive synths & blazoning bass injected with a classic Zeds Dead sound. It takes you on a thrilling ride, rolling along with the wavering filth and triumph of an excellent closing to the EP. These kind of tracks leave audiences in awe, shuttering after each. insane. drop.
